Supplemental Respiratory Therapist, Nights - TMC

Job Summary Position responsible for administering basic and advanced therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, including arterial blood gases, neonatal procedures, trauma care and ventilator transports, to patients with respiratory disorders, including patients in adult and neonatal critical care units. Function as a resource to RCP I, participate and lead advanced patient education, and be actively involved in departmental quality program. Shift/location: Texas Medical Center, Nights Key Qualifications RRT Minimum 2+ years of critical care experience Experience with high acuity care Education Bachelor’s degree preferred Licenses / Certifications Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT); Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred Current and unrestricted Respiratory Care Practitioner License with the State of Texas required BCLS and one of the following: ACLS, PALS, NRP, CPFT, RPFT, RPSGT, Asthma Certified Educator, NRP Instructor, ACLS Instructor, PALS Instructor or CPR Instructor Experience / Knowledge / Skills RCP I: RCP II: 1-3 years RCP III: 3-10 years RCP IV: 10+ years Four (4) years of critical care experience preferred Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; prolonged standing; frequent walking, stooping and squatting Fine hand dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, and strong verbal and written communication skills Visual acuity to monitor instruments, computers, and equipment; ability to recognize alphanumeric characters, distinguish colors, and observe physical characteristics Commitment to an elected schedule with flexibility and willingness to move within patient care areas as needed Principal Accountabilities Perform duties that promote quality patient care, customer service, safety, cost efficiency, and support the CQI process Execute respiratory care, quality assurance, and problem‑solving tasks with appropriate actions Administer medical gases, humidifiers, and aerosols for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes per advanced skills check‑off for RCP II Take and follow verbal treatment orders from physicians for drugs and medications to the cardiopulmonary system of patients; evaluate treatment programs and results, and take appropriate action Perform patient assessment, interpret arterial blood gases, pulmonary function tests, hemodynamics, and chest X‑rays as indicated by RCP II skills check‑off Develop respiratory care plans, make recommendations for patient management, and serve as a resource person to RCP I Communicate effectively with professional colleagues, manage time efficiently, document accurately in medical records, and complete other documentation duties in accordance with policies and procedures Participate in the evaluation of new respiratory care equipment Remain current in respiratory care through continuing education, in‑service training, and reviewing professional journals; conduct inter‑ and intra‑departmental respiratory care in‑services at least once a year to patients, staff, hospital, system, or the community Adhere to the agreed supplemental schedule Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; comply with all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time, supply, productivity, and service quality Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting mandatory/continuing education and skills competency requirements; support department‑based goals contributing to organizational success; serve as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff Demonstrate commitment to caring for every member of the community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences, modeling Memorial Hermann’s service standards, and providing safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues Other duties as assigned #J-18808-Ljbffr Memorial Hermann Health System
