Details 12-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit Patient ratio of 1:4 Patient population includes respiratory illness, renal illness, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell, and cystic fibrosis diagnoses Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00 36 or 48 hour weekly options available Every other weekend required Floating required within scope of practice per facility float policy Uses Epic EMR Requirements Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted) Current BLS certification required Minimum 1 year of recent experience required Epic EMR experience required BSN preferred Prior charge nurse experience preferred Teaching hospital experience preferred Trauma Level I experience preferred Experience with respiratory care, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), tracheostomy care, PCA, heparin protocols, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, and IV insulin protocols Additional Information Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit including cardiac monitoring, wound care, and management of insulin drips and heparin protocols Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays Up to 40 hours of requested time off may be approved per contract Up to 16 non-billable hours of specialty-specific orientation modules required, completed during orientation and recorded in Workday First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience Previous UVA Health permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility American Traveler Job ID P-746963.
