Radiologic Technologist Interventional Radiology

Job Summary:

The Interventional Radiology Radiologic Technologist is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic radiologic images, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting radiologists during procedures. The role requires proficiency in operating radiology equipment, maintaining patient safety and confidentiality, and collaborating effectively with the healthcare team. The technologist must demonstrate flexibility, professionalism, and adherence to hospital policies, including medication security and information management. Responsibilities:

  • Select appropriate exposure factors and patient positioning to produce diagnostic-quality images.
  • Instruct and prepare patients for radiologic examinations and assist Radiologists during interventional procedures.
  • Operate all radiology equipment competently and report any malfunctions promptly.
  • Complete assigned procedures efficiently and assist with room turnover and support of other team members.
  • Maintain medication security, ensuring access is limited to authorized personnel only.
  • Provide healthcare services competently to patients of all age groups.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills with patients and team members.
  • Use Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS accurately and confidentially.
  • Participate in hospital performance improvement initiatives as required.
  • Handle technical telephone inquiries professionally, maintaining good phone etiquette.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Valid New York State Radiologic Technologist License or ability to obtain prior to start.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Competency in using HIS, RIS, and PACS systems.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Vascular Interventional Radiology (VIR) Certification.
Special Considerations:
  • On-call and callback duties including 5-7 call shifts per 7-week block, with 2-4 weekend calls.
  • Must demonstrate flexibility, team spirit, and accountability in a high-paced interventional radiology environment.
  • Adherence to patient rights and confidentiality at all times.
Scheduling:
  • Five 8-hour day shifts per week.
  • On-call and holiday coverage as required by unit needs.
