Operating Room Nurse (RN) Surgery Center Banner Surgery Center – Camelback, 2222 E Highland Ave, Phoenix, Arizona, United States of America Position Summary This RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in line with organizational policies and professional nursing standards. The RN is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by themselves and team members. They use specialized knowledge and judgment to assess data and plan appropriate care for patients of all ages. Essential Functions Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs; review patient history, diagnostics and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians and caregivers; complete assessments and reassessments. Formulate a plan of care, including discharge, based on assessment data; set realistic, measurable goals in collaboration with patient, family and multidisciplinary team; revise plan as patient needs change. Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the health care team; provide care per physician orders and nursing plan; ensure compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise plan of care as needed; assess patient progress towards goals; evaluate effectiveness of patient teaching. Document assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record; ensure documentation is legible, timely and meets policy requirements. Provide care based on best evidence, participate in research activities; contribute to departmental leadership; support education, orientation and mentoring of staff, patients, students, families and visitors; promote growth of others through precepting and mentoring. Contribute to society by achieving excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care; participate in improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes; engage in professional organizations. In some locations, provide relief charge for staff and department workflow. Perform all functions per established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, and applicable professional standards. Provide customers with excellent service by consistently demonstrating core and leadership behaviors. Specific tasks or responsibilities shall be documented by the incumbent’s immediate manager. Minimum Qualifications Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing, or higher, required. Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice. BLS and ACLS required. PALS certification required within 90 days of start date if assigned ASC services pediatrics. Full-time or part-time: Minimum one-year licensed RN experience in OR (other procedural areas considered with Support Center Clinical Educator approval). Licensed RN with no OR experience enrolled in PeriOp101 program may be accepted with successful completion within four months.
