HVAC Technician (Residential) Job Description

Job Title: Residential HVAC Technician
Experience Required: 1–5 Years
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with a workday lunch break. Must be willing and available to participate in weekend and on-call rotations as required. Overtime opportunities available.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Residential HVAC Technician with 1–5 years of experience to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair residential heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, customer-focused, and capable of working independently while providing high-quality service to homeowners.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, maintain, and repair residential HVAC systems.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and perform timely repairs.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment.
• Test system performance and ensure proper operation after repairs.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and service documentation.
• Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and parts inventory.
• Provide excellent customer service and explain repair recommendations to homeowners.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Respond to after-hours emergency service calls as part of the on-call rotation.
• Keep company vehicle, tools, and equipment clean and organized.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1–5 years of residential HVAC service or installation experience is mandatory.
• EPA Certification (Required).
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to diagnose and repair residential HVAC systems independently.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in attics, crawl spaces, on ladders, and in varying weather conditions.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

• HVAC Trade School or Technical Certification.
• NATE Certification (preferred).
• Experience with heat pumps, gas furnaces, air conditioners, and smart thermostats.
• Familiarity with residential maintenance agreements and preventative maintenance programs.
