Farm Attendant

Position Purpose: Performs heavy manual labor to care for animals and crops at Centennial Farm. This is a seasonal position not to exceed 122 days that will be scheduled full-time hours.

Essential Functions

• Performs heavy manual labor in the livestock area, including daily cleaning to maintain the appearance of the area.
• Assists in garden maintenance including planting, weeding, and harvesting.
• Feeds livestock on a daily basis.
• Maintains and repairs various structures and exhibits in the Centennial Farm area.
• May operate equipment including forklifts, manlifts, tractors, carts and hand tools.
• Performs a variety of janitorial duties to maintain cleanliness of the Centennial Farm area.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to work effectively with all types of people in a fast-paced environment necessary.
• Must be available to work all 23 days of the annual OC Fair.
• Ability to work outside the normal business day/week as needed by events and programs.

Preferences

• A valid California driver's license.
• Previous experience working with livestock animals and crops desired.
• Previous experience operating heavy equipment such as forklift, manlift, tractor and carts, as well as various hand tools in a safe and proper manner necessary.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Will work in a fast-paced, environment in an outdoor, and sometimes indoor, environment during all types of weather.
