HEALTH SYSTEM FINANCE CONTROLLER

The Controller will be reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The Controller is responsible for managing day-to-day operations of the accounting and finance functions while effectively using the resources available to address financial issues on a micro and macro scale to secure the continued success of the organization. The successful candidate must have a strong background in internal controls and will develop and maintain systems and workflows to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of accounting records. The Controller is responsible for annual audit and monthly presentation of Financial Statements. Supervises other Health Finance Staff. Works with CFO to ensure segregation of duties within all financial transactions are codified and enforces through active monitoring and checks and balances within fiduciary activities and programs.
- Required education: Must have a Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or a related field with a Master's degree in Business or Accounting (or must be completed upon 12 months of hire); certified public accountant (CPA) or CGFM designation preferred.
- Must have two or more years of progressive career experience in Healthcare Finance/Accounting and management of staff.
- Required two or more years accounting and finance experience working in Healthcare and Tribal Governmental accounting with federal grants, SF 425's, grant draw downs, balance sheet reconciliations, self-governance compacts.
- Must be familiar with governmental accounting in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
- Must have in-depth knowledge of healthcare financial reporting, revenue cycle management, accounting, budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, audit, tax, payroll, information technology and materials management.
- Must have in-depth knowledge of the current trends and developments in healthcare reform and other federal programs.
- Must be able to demonstrate and effectively communicate the financial condition of the organization to the CEO and other members of the leadership team.
- Required to have managed an accounting system conversion.

- Requires familiarity with grant writing, administration, and compliance with grant regulations.
- Requires familiarity with the concepts of project management.
- Requires familiarity with the concepts of budget development and compliance with Tribal budgets.
- Requires familiarity with planning concepts and processes including but not limited to program planning and cost modeling for Health Services/new Programs.
- Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills, including travel to conferences and training sessions.
- Must maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Requires in-depth knowledge of grant accounting and compliance with grant regulations including OMB circulars.
- Requires advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products, particularly Excel.
- Requires good interpersonal communication and team work skills.
