Airport Police Officer | City of Dayton The Tone: This is an early career law enforcement position at the City of Dayton, providing critical police services at their aviation facilities in Dayton, OH. This role is vital for ensuring compliance with federal and local regulations, protecting passengers and personnel, and supporting the continuous efficiency of the airport’s functions. The TL;DR Role: Early Career Type: Full-time Location: In-person, Dayton, OH Team: Airport Police Division, performing central dispatching duties Mission: Ensure safety, security, and regulatory compliance at Aviation facilities through law enforcement and operational support. Tech Stack: L.E.A.D.S. terminal, emergency tele-notification system, security system, airport computer controlled access system What You’ll Actually Do Enforce Regulations: Provide comprehensive law enforcement services by enforcing applicable laws, ordinances, and FAA/TSA regulations at aviation facilities. Respond & Report: Conduct foot and vehicle patrols, issue traffic citations, make arrests, and write detailed reports on violations and criminal/non-criminal activities. Provide Emergency Aid: Administer first aid and facilitate notifications or removal of persons to area hospitals for medical treatment. Support Airport Operations: Assist flight services when aircraft are overdue or missing, and respond to tower warnings or alerts, utilizing detailed airfield knowledge. Manage Dispatch: Perform central dispatching duties for police officers, maintenance personnel, and other division needs using specialized security and communication systems. The Must-Haves Background: Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.); satisfactory completion of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC) required law enforcement training curriculum, possessing a valid OPOTC certificate or equivalent Letter of Completion. Experience: Must be at least 21 years of age; attendance and successful completion of the Airport Police Field Training Program; newly hired officers will obtain and maintain Ohio Emergency Medical Response (EMR) certification; applicants with a break in sworn Ohio law enforcement service of more than one year but less than four years must complete a two-day course per Ohio Administrative Code. Skills: Ability to apply applicable laws, ordinances, and FAA/TSA regulations; detailed knowledge of airfield regulations and conditions; proficiency in operating the L.E.A.D.S. terminal, emergency tele-notification system, security system, and airport computer controlled access system; sound judgment in law enforcement situations; ability to work multi-shift schedules including weekends, holidays, and overtime, subject to holdovers and recalls; possession of a valid driver’s license; must be a citizen of the United States. #J-18808-Ljbffr City of Dayton
