Senior Technical Advisor

The U.S. Secret Service (USSS) is seeking a dynamic, results driven Senior Technical Advisor to carry out the overall planning and oversight of the agency-wide strategic direction of technology investments, enterprise architecture, and modernization priorities. To be considered qualified for this position you must meet the following qualification requirements for the Senior Technical Advisor position in which you are applying. Analyzing and comparing alternative methods to achieve IT objectives. Advising senior executive leadership on a variety of complex IT issues that include the adoption of advanced technologies, such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity frameworks, data analytics, and/or emerging technologies. Developing multi-year technology roadmaps and implementing digital transformation initiatives. Ensuring accurate recordkeeping of financial expenditures, maximizing operational efficiency, and compliance with all related IT policies. Serving as the directorate or agency representative to department or inter-governmental forums concerning programs related to technology adoption, risk management, and resource allocation. PROFESSIONAL TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (PTQ) Candidates must demonstrate their experience meets the PTQs for this position within their two-page resume. Separate narratives will NOT be accepted or reviewed. PTQ 1: Enterprise Technology Strategy and Integration Demonstrated experience in setting and executing enterprise-wide technology vision and strategy, including leading large-scale technology integration initiatives across complex, multi-disciplinary organizations. Proven ability to develop multi-year technology roadmaps, drive digital transformation, and manage IT systems and resources in accordance with federal regulations, cybersecurity mandates, and internal control policies. PTQ 2: Advanced Technical and Software Engineering Expertise Demonstrated expertise in establishing and enforcing enterprise technical standards, governance frameworks, and best practices for system architecture, software engineering, and IT operations. Proven experience with advanced technologies-including cloud computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity frameworks, and data analytics-ensuring scalability, security, and resiliency to evolving threats. PTQ 3: Executive-Level Advisory and Technical Decision-Making Demonstrated experience advising senior executives and management on complex technical issues, technology adoption, risk management, and resource allocation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide authoritative recommendations and make binding technical decisions impacting operational efficiency, financial stewardship, and mission-critical functions. Time-in-grade requirements do not apply to SL positions, so applicants do not need to have spent a certain period of time at the GS-15 or equivalent level.
