Coordinator of Music Engagement (CL9678)

Government Jobs

Coordinator Of Music Engagement

The Coordinator of Music Engagement co-leads music recruitment and enrollment strategy from initial artistic interest through audition, School of Music admission, and transition into the music program, while supporting institutional yield. The position is responsible for Hi-Notes, audition operations, faculty and student engagement, music-specific outreach, talent-scholarship coordination, and analysis of music recruitment activity in collaboration with the Dean. The position works in close partnership with the Assistant Director of Admissions, Music.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Dean of the School of Music, develop and execute the annual School of Music recruitment and engagement plan in partnership with the Director of Undergraduate Admissions and in coordination with the Assistant Director of Admissions, Music, including the calendar, priority audiences, faculty and student engagement strategy, events, and music-specific communications supporting institutional enrollment goals.
  • Oversee Hi-Notes operations, including registration, individualized schedules, student hosts, faculty coordination, visit materials, Slate records, day-of execution, and follow-up.
  • Oversee audition operations and the School of Music admission process, including Slate setup, individualized schedules, faculty access and evaluations, rooms, student workers, music-specific communications, coordination and communication of artistic admission decisions, and event-day logistics; partner with Admissions to incorporate appropriate admissions presentations and student and family support.
  • Lead music-specific outreach through FMEA, music-focused college fairs, high schools, community music programs, camps, festivals, competitions, and area days; coordinate faculty participation, School of Music participation in university enrollment events, and music recruitment advertising in collaboration with Marketing.
  • Create individualized faculty and program experiences through lessons, classes, rehearsals, student hosts, Dean meetings, and related activities.
  • Lead School of Music-specific engagement and transition activities that support institutional yield through faculty outreach, talent-scholarship coordination, Dean engagement, music program guidance, and connection to School of Music expectations.
  • Analyze music-specific recruitment and engagement data, including Hi-Notes participation, auditions, faculty interactions, artistic admission, and talent-scholarship activity; maintain corresponding Slate records; and share identified music-specific yield risks and engagement opportunities with the Assistant Director of Admissions, Music and the Dean of the School of Music.
  • Supervise student workers, manage event resources, maintain a shared recruitment calendar and pipeline review with Admissions, coordinate accepted-student outreach to avoid duplicate messaging, and respond to music-specific questions received through the music admissions inbox in coordination with the Assistant Director of Admissions, Music. The position does not read university applications, make university admission decisions, explain university financial-aid packages or enrollment costs, or manage enrollment deposits or university matriculation requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills producing and presenting information in a concise and compelling manner.
  • Ability to work effectively in an entrepreneurial environment committed to high standards of performance and ambitious goals for growth and institutional development.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team and foster collegial relationships with diverse constituencies, such as faculty, students, alumnae, and staff.
  • Knowledge of music degree programs, auditions, artistic admission, talent scholarships, and relationship-centered recruitment.
  • Ability to plan and execute complex visits and auditions involving faculty, staff, students, families, facilities, and technology.
  • Strategic recruitment, project-management, event-management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple units, including but not limited to Admissions, Enrollment Operations, Financial Aid, University Marketing, Residential Living and Learning, and the School of Music, while avoiding duplicate outreach.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred; high school diploma required.
  • Must possess current driver license and an insurable driving record through the University's insurance provider and be willing to travel via various modes of transportation (driving, flying, train travel, etc.).
  • Ability to travel and work selected evenings, holidays and weekends during peak recruitment periods.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • One to three years of experience in music admissions, music recruitment, higher education, student engagement, or related music-centered work.
  • Knowledge of music degree programs, audition-based recruitment, and relationship-centered student engagement.
  • Experience coordinating auditions, music visits, arts recruitment events, talent scholarships, or specialized yield initiatives.
  • Experience with Slate or comparable CRM, data-informed recruitment strategy, and supervision or team coordination.

Work Environment:

Work is performed primarily in an indoor office environment with access to air conditioning and heating. The majority of work is completed using a laptop or personal computer. The work environment is generally characterized by low noise levels, with variable noise during auditions, recruitment events, campus visits, and travel. The position operates within a professional office atmosphere with an institutional dress code.

The School of Music:

Stetson's School of Music is an exclusively undergraduate program known for its excellence, depth, and long-standing reputation for the quality of its education. The school offers BM, BME, and BA degrees, with majors in performance, music education, music theory, composition, and outside-field areas. A faculty of 46 serves approximately 225 music majors and minors. The school has its own dean and holds full membership in the National Association of Schools of Music. Recent graduates of the School of Music are found on the stages of the world's great opera houses (including the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, and Covent Garden). They hold leadership positions in major symphony orchestras, serve as faculty members of the most prestigious colleges and universities nationwide, and they gain admission to distinguished graduate programs in the United States and Europe. The School of Music is proud of the consistent placement of its graduates as teachers in K-12 school music education programs in Florida and throughout the nation.
