Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, ideally in a school environment
• Familiarity with educational terminology and adapting communication styles for diverse student needs
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with educators, students, and families
• State and/or national certification in sign language interpretation (RID/NIC or equivalent), or eligibility to obtain

Primary Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language to ASL, and vice versa, in classroom and school-related activities
• Facilitate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and support staff
• Accurately convey lesson content, classroom discussions, and any school communications
• Support student participation in both academic and extracurricular activities
• Uphold confidentiality standards and maintain accurate records as required
