Embedded Systems Engineer | Otsego, MI

Salary Range: $84,000 - $129,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Otsego that are seeking Embedded Systems Engineers. Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement firmware for industrial control systems.
• Troubleshoot and debug embedded hardware and software issues on the production line.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and test engineers to develop and optimize production test fixtures.
• Develop and maintain documentation for embedded systems, including design specifications and test plans.
• Perform root cause analysis of failures and propose corrective actions for embedded systems in manufacturing.
• Participate in the selection and evaluation of new microcontrollers, sensors, and other embedded components.
• Integrate embedded systems with other factory automation equipment and enterprise systems.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development.
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) like FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
• Familiarity with microcontroller architectures (e.g., ARM Cortex-M) and their peripherals (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART, ADC, DAC).
• Experience with hardware debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG/SWD debuggers).
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to design for testability (DFT) and manufacturability (DFM).

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, PROFINET, Modbus).
• Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) like FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
• Knowledge of functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849, IEC 61508).
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and simulation environments.
