Construction Project Manager- HVAC

Job Overview Construction Project Manager – Onsite positions in Houston, TX and Louisville, KY. Lead large, sophisticated controls construction projects ($1M+). Responsible for profitable execution of assigned projects within the North Carolina market or more broadly. Responsibilities Lead large, sophisticated controls construction projects ($1M+). Ensure projects are completed accurately, on time, billed appropriately, within budget, and within scope. Act as primary on‑site leader for execution teams. Develop and monitor project schedules, perform cost estimates, prepare proposals, and negotiate final settlement price and customer acceptance. Maintain positive cash flow, pursue change orders, and manage bids and collections. Ensure compliance with state, local, and federal legal requirements and safety standards. Adhere to consistent and repeatable project management procedures and processes. Communicate project progress, issues, and financial status to management. Handle risks, establish recovery plans, and resolve disputes. Negotiate, prepare, and issue subcontracts; ensure supporting documentation controls. Coordinate with HVAC Installation Manager, Systems Team Leader, and other resource managers. Facilitate engineering and commissioning, product‑related issues, and customer training. Support sales and business development early in the audit process as needed. Cover project assignments anywhere in the organization (travel may vary). Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or equivalent; or associate’s degree with equivalent experience. Minimum of eight years direct project management experience in the building construction industry. Experience managing Mechanical retrofits, HVAC controls, BAS management, fire management, and security management systems. PMI/PMP certification required within 2 years of employment (preferred). Proficient in Project Management software (Microsoft Project), financial accounting systems, and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project). Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain technical material to non‑technical audiences. Proficient in Adobe Writer, Visio, basic Windows environment. Travel requirements vary; able to work on projects outside assigned geography. Ability to manage complex projects with multiple subcontractors and scopes. Compensation and Benefits Salary: $89,000–119,000USD annually (based on experience, skills, and market data). Competitive bonus plan based on individual, group, and corporate performance.
