Technical Program Manager III, Data Center Design

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers. Responsibilities Manage multiple, simultaneous data center design projects from detailed design through construction administration and finally closeout and handover to operations. Gather internal requirements, generating potential options, presenting to the leadership team, and delivering design solutions that satisfy customers' needs. Create and manage strategies for the execution of designs that leverage a standard baseline plan of record. Responsible for managing strategy for projects that require deviation from the baseline design. Overcome critical tests while maintaining adherence to project timelines, quality and costs, and managing a cross-functional set of stakeholders. Minimum qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience. 5 years of experience in program management. Experience managing multi-group, multi-disciplinary construction projects and designs. Preferred qualifications PE License, RA License, Chartered Engineer License or equivalent technical professional license or certification. Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related technical fields. 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects. Experience managing data center design and product development. Experience managing vendor relationships and design-to-construction workflows, including procurement strategy, work package development, and cross-functional coordination. Experience with data center specific or equivalent equipment/environments, including switchgear, generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, building controls, security monitoring systems, fire safety systems and an understanding of start up/commissioning processes. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
