Banquet ServerThe Banquet Server is responsible for delivering and serving food and beverage in a friendly, courteous and timely manner, focusing on exceeding guest satisfaction.Responsibilities:Liaison between Sales Manager and House of Blues Team Members before, during and throughout the eventGreeting guests in a friendly and courteous manner explaining all specials, promotions and food items on the menu, and assemble food ordersSet banquet tables to meet the function specificationsSet/display food and beverages on buffet tables for delivery to function guests requiring buffet serviceServes at Food and Beverage Functions in accordance with Banquet Event Orders, Banquet Service policies, Banquet Management instruction.Bus (remove, replace and clear) during and after service, as well as assist in the clearing of banquet rooms at end of service and the reset or refreshing of the room for the next event, as necessary.Return all equipment to their proper storage area and maintain cleanliness and organization.Anticipate and respond to guests' needs; make sure guest service is friendly, helpful and fastAnswer guest questions, make recommendations regarding menu pricing, preparation, ingredients and plate presentation, up-sell liquorsSell the house! Have knowledge of all music, promotional or special events in the venueSuggestively sell beverages and menu items; take ordersDeliver drinks, maneuvering trays through large crowdsMaintain line of sight/atmosphere control by circulating through your work area throughout shiftRemove dirty glasses, dishes, ashtrays from tables, including the lifting/moving of bus tubs up to 25lbs.Clean spills, remove food, trash or other obstacles from floor using proper lifting techniquesMaintain House of Blues safety and sanitation standardsFollow housekeeping standards per HOB policyKeep current on all standard operating proceduresRequest identification from any guest who appears to be under 30 years of ageEnsure responsible alcohol service per local ordinance alcohol awareness training and HOB alcohol policiesRecognize when guests are becoming too intoxicated and refuse further service of alcohol in a courteous and safety-minded manner, bringing it to the attention of the managerReceive payment and process cash, credit card or Travelers check transactions according to HOB policyAssist other servers and staff as neededAttend pre-shift meeting conducted by Manager on Duty prior to start of each shiftOther duties as assigned by management.Required:Flexible scheduleWorking Knowledge of basic food service, responsible alcohol service, drink recipes and garnishes, point of sales systems2 years work Full Service or Banquet experience interacting with people in a positive environmentAbility to deal with intoxicated guests in a positive and safety minded mannerMust have a valid alcohol awareness certification or be capable of obtaining certificationTolerance of all cultures, music and art formsPreferred:Previous Fine Dining ExperiencePrevious Serving experience in the Hotel and/or Hospitality IndustryCash handling experienceExperience recognizing valid ID'sExperience in a live music environmentPhysical Demands/Working Environment:Working environment is fast-paced, often loud and stressfulPosition requires extended periods of prolonged standing and working on your feetMust be able to lift or move up to 25 lbs using proper lifting techniquesApplicants for employment in the U.S. must possess work authorization which does not require sponsorship by the employer for a visa.
