Parts Cleaner

Job Title: Parts Cleaner Job Description
The Parts Cleaner is responsible for cleaning, inspecting, and preparing machined metal parts for assembly or shipment. This role ensures parts are free of debris, smooth, and meet quality standards before moving to the next stage of production.
Responsibilities

• Review route sheets and follow work instructions.
• Inspect parts for visible defects and quality issues.
• Remove burrs, metal chips, and rough edges from parts.
• Use hand tools such as files, deburring blades, wire brushes, and sandpaper, as well as power tools like die grinders and bench grinders.
• Load and unload parts into the parts washer to remove dirt, oil, and residue.
• Use air hoses to blow off excess debris.
• Apply rust inhibitor to cast iron and steel parts.
• Complete final part counts and verify paperwork accuracy.
• Package parts to prevent damage during transport.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance on equipment, including maintaining washer fluid levels.
• Support process improvements to reduce waste and improve efficiency.

Essential Skills

• Experience in assembly, grinding, and production.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Knowledge of deburring and quality assurance practices.
• 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with visual inspection.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 1+ years in warehouse material handling is preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word).
• Domestic travel possible for training purposes.

Work Environment
This position operates on the second shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 PM to 3:30 AM, with training on the first shift from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM for 4-6 weeks. The work environment is a climate-controlled shop, ensuring comfort and safety.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
