Head of School

Carney, Sandoe & Associates is excited to support Good Shepherd Episcopal School (GSES), a PK–Grade 8 Episcopal school serving approximately 590 students in Dallas, Texas, in their search for their next Head of School, with a start date of July 2027. GSES’s mission—to inspire children to learn with confidence, serve with compassion, and lead with courage—is deeply embedded in the life of the school. The community is one where students are well known, faculty are trusted, and families are meaningfully engaged. Founded in 1959, the school is entering an exciting period of growth and momentum. A capital campaign is nearing completion, a new state-of-the-art gymnasium just opened in April, and planning is underway for the next campus master plan. Good Shepherd offers several distinctive programs, including its Classroom of the Earth (COE), which provides nature-based, experiential learning from PreK through middle school. Central to its Episcopal identity, the school offers a robust service-learning program in all grades. The school community is widely regarded as warm, authentic, deeply relational, and energized about the future. The next Head of School will have the opportunity to build on this momentum by strengthening organizational clarity, enhancing program coherence across PK–8, investing in faculty culture, and further articulating the school’s story within a competitive independent school landscape. The ideal candidate will be a visible, relational leader with strong academic grounding and an appreciation for Episcopal traditions and values.
