Substitute CustodiansThe above substitute Custodial positions are available for the 2025-2026 school year. The primary function of the custodian is to efficiently maintain the safety and cleanliness of the district buildings to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for students and staff.Qualifications:Minimum high school diploma and New Jersey driver's license.Experience in and/or general working knowledge of building maintenance and the proper use, storage and disposal of cleaning materials.Possess Black Seal Boiler License or obtain within 18 months of employment.Willingness to participate in additional training to enhance or learn new technologies to further job skills.Appropriate appearance and good physical and mental health.Ability to follow directions, work independently, and communicate well with others.Responsibilities and Duties:Responsible to keep all district buildings clean from refuse and free from unsafe conditions in all areas including but not limited to hallways, cafeterias, classrooms, offices, bathrooms, and storage areas.Be available to respond to emergency or weather related situations outside of regular work hours.Responsible to open building doors daily for regular school use as directed and ensure all areas of the building as assigned are kept closed and locked at all times when not in use.Assume responsibility for school equipment by maintaining in proper and safe working condition.Responsible to report any areas of the building in need of attention and any equipment in need of repair to the supervisor of buildings and grounds.Request proper cleaning supplies from head custodian at the end of each shift for next scheduled work detail.Responsible to complete work assignments in an acceptable manner as directed by the supervisor of buildings and grounds.Perform duties including but not limited to moving furniture and equipment and provide set up/tear down for school activities.Perform all other duties that may arise and designated by the supervisor of buildings and grounds.Evaluation Job performance is evaluated annually by the supervisor of buildings and grounds in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on the evaluation of personnel.
