Role: Civil 3D CAD Technician
Location: Las Cruces, NM
Job Type: Full Time Direct Hire
Pay: $28 to $34 per hour, based on experience with Civil 3d and their in-depth knowledge of the software and engineering backgrounds.
Work Location: In person

Our client is seeking a detail‑oriented Civil 3D CAD Technician to support their engineering team in producing high‑quality plans, models, and construction documents for civil infrastructure and land development projects. This position plays a key role in transforming engineering concepts into accurate, buildable drawings that meet project, client, and regulatory standards.

Our client is a disaster recovery and engineering firm serving clients across the region. This position is based out of their Las Cruces, New Mexico office.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and edit 2D/3D drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including grading, surfaces, alignments, corridors, and pipe networks.

• Prepare plan and profile sheets, utility layouts, site plans, and construction details.

• Incorporate engineer redlines and maintain drawing accuracy throughout design iterations.

• Manage CAD files, external references, sheet sets, and project organization in accordance with company standards.

• Perform quality control checks for drafting accuracy, layer compliance, and plan set consistency.

• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, survey staff, and external stakeholders.

• Assist with quantity takeoffs, exhibits, and supporting documentation.

• Occasionally support field verification, measurements, or as‑built updates.

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (surfaces, grading, alignments, profiles, cross sections).

• Strong understanding of civil engineering drafting standards and construction documentation.

• Ability to interpret engineering sketches, survey data, and design notes.

• Excellent attention to detail and file management discipline.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in civil/site, municipal, transportation, or land development drafting.

• Experience with NMDOT, TxDOT, county, or municipal drafting standards.

• Familiarity with survey workflows, point files, and field data.

• Associate degree or technical certificate in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
