Radiology Technologist Specialty - Neurosurgery Group - Days M-F

Overview Performs a variety of diagnostic radiographic exams and C-arm fluoroscopy. When working within the Erlanger Neurosurgery, the radiologic technologist will report to the Regional Manager. Responsibilities The technologist assists with invasive procedures using sterile technique. Uses traditional, computerized, and digital radiographic equipment to create high-quality diagnostic images for cranial and spinal patients. Works with the provider to assist using Fluoroscopy C-arm with procedures such as epidural steroid injections and radio frequency ablations. Assists with draping, positioning and prepping for procedures, and assists nursing staff with monitoring sedation cases. Orders and stocks supplies needed for specialty cases within the department. Works with pharmacy daily to order and supply contrast for procedures. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide comprehensive care appropriate to the age of patients in the Erlanger Neurosurgery Department, and adheres to age-specific care requirements per unit policies and procedures. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an approved JRCERT radiologic program (The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology). Experience: Medical and/or hospital clinical experience required. Basic computer experience (1-2 years of work experience or college level classes). Licensing/Certification: ARRT certified (compliant with all continuing education mandates). ARRT registry eligible (must complete within one year). Radiological student from an approved radiology program must be registry eligible within three months and complete registry within one year. CPR/BLS required prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward. Preferred: CNMT certified. Prior hospital and/or physician office background and specialty training in fluoroscopy with procedures.
