Registered Nurse - Adolescent Psychiatric Emergency Program

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

12-hour day shifts, with weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Job Description

As a Registered Nurse in the Adolescent Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP), you will provide care for patients with severe mental illnesses and behavioral issues. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to assess patient needs, administer medications, and implement de-escalation techniques. Your role is crucial in ensuring a safe and supportive environment for adolescent patients.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with psychiatric emergencies.
• Administer medications including psychotropics via IM injections and oral routes.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques and participate in crisis intervention.
• Monitor patient behaviors and report any concerns to the healthcare team.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.
• Assist in maintaining a safe environment, including contraband searches and patient supervision.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have at least 1 year of nursing experience in a psychiatric setting.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS.
• Completion of either Handle with Care, TRUST Training, CPI, PMCS, or MOAB prior to starting.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Preferred: Medical-surgical, telemetry, or critical care experience.
