Location Gilmer County Environmental Health Dept. – Ellijay, GA Responsibilities Under direct supervision, evaluate programs for compliance with Georgia Environmental Regulations and perform public health inspections of On‑Site Sewer Management Systems, Animal Bite Investigations, Food Service Establishments, Public Swimming Pools, Tourist Accommodations, Body Art Studios. Respond to public health emergencies as requested; all county public health employees are deemed essential during an emergency and must participate. Drive a personal vehicle or company vehicle for work daily. Communicate effectively and manage time efficiently. Work in various climates, both outdoors and indoors. Perform physical tasks such as frequent standing, bending, walking; occasional lifting of 25 to 40 lbs. Travel daily within the county for inspection duties. Complete additional duties as assigned. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including completion of 27 semester or 40 quarter hours in laboratory sciences (e.g., chemistry, biology, geology, physics, etc.). This is a salary position based on a 40‑hour work week, Monday through Friday. This job qualifies for PSLF. See Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary. CBH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the U.S. Department of Education (DOE). All positions require a criminal history record check. Required education credentials, license, certification, and/or registration must be submitted prior to employment. Some positions require pre‑employment drug testing.
