Registered Nurse In The Post Anesthesia Care Unit

The position is for a Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The unit has 22 beds and operates both Phase 1 and Phase 2 care. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2. Ideal candidates must hold certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS. Common cases include ortho, trauma, cardiac, urology, pulmonary, and GI. Experience in ED or ICU settings is required. Nurses will read strips as part of their responsibilities. Nurses will assist with lunch relief but will not take assignments as charge nurses. There are no nurse aids on the unit. The unit does recover ICU patients. The schedule includes variable start times of 0730, 0800, 0900, 1000, and primarily 11:00 AM. On-call shifts would occur once every six weeks for weeknight shifts. Weekend on-call requirements apply. Response time for calls is within one hour. Floating to other units may be required. Nurses will wear hospital-provided scrubs. Charting is done using the Epic system. The hospital maintains a cancellation policy for shifts.
