Labor Relations Specialist

Labor Relations SpecialistKiewit is seeking a Labor Relations Specialist to support workforce and labor relations activities on a large-scale industrial construction project in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. This role serves as a key liaison between project teams, craft employees, union partners, recruiting teams, and labor leadership to help ensure a productive, compliant, and highly engaged workforce. The Labor Relations Specialist will assist with union coordination, workforce planning, craft onboarding, labor agreement administration, workforce reporting, and employee relations activities. The ideal candidate is a relationship-focused professional who can effectively communicate with field personnel, labor organizations, and project leadership while supporting workforce needs in a fast-paced construction environment.Responsibilities include supporting labor relations and workforce management activities for the project site, building and maintaining positive working relationships with local union representatives, business agents, and workforce partners, assisting with administration and interpretation of Collective Bargaining Agreements and Project Labor Agreements, coordinating union dispatch requests and supporting craft workforce staffing efforts, supporting workforce onboarding, orientation, site access, and union verification processes, monitoring workforce levels and assisting with manpower forecasting, workforce planning, and project staffing reports, tracking labor relations metrics, workforce trends, craft headcount, and union utilization, assisting in resolving workforce concerns, employee issues, and labor-related inquiries, supporting grievance documentation, investigations, and issue resolution efforts, coordinating labor-management meetings and workforce engagement initiatives, developing and maintaining labor relations records, files, and compliance documentation, collaborating with operations, field supervision, HR, safety, and recruiting teams to ensure workforce readiness, assisting with workforce reductions, transfers, and project labor transitions, supporting workforce development initiatives, apprenticeship programs, and community workforce partnerships, and maintaining compliance with labor agreements, company policies, and applicable employment regulations.Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered, 3+ years of experience in labor relations, human resources, workforce management, recruiting, employee relations, construction operations, or related fields, strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, excellent verbal and written communication abilities, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment. Preferred experience working with unionized workforces or labor organizations, familiarity with construction, industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, or energy projects, basic understanding of collective bargaining agreements and labor-management relations, experience coordinating workforce staffing, onboarding, or craft recruiting activities, knowledge of apprenticeship programs and workforce development initiatives.Other requirements include regular, reliable attendance, working productively and meeting deadlines timely, communicating and interacting effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment, performing work safely and effectively, understanding and following oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies, working during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines, working overtime and weekends as required, and working at various different locations where conditions may vary.
