Position: Facilities Maintenance Specialist
Pay: $23.00 to $29.00 per hour, based on experience
Shift: 1st Shift | Monday through Friday | 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Location: Newport News, VA

JOB OVERVIEW FOR FACILITIES MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST

The Lee Group is looking for a Facilities Maintenance Specialist to work at one of our valued clients in Newport News, VA!

As a Facilities Maintenance Specialist, you will support the day to day maintenance needs of multiple branch locations throughout the Hampton Roads and Richmond areas. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands on work, troubleshooting problems, and having variety in their day.

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will assist with general maintenance, electrical, plumbing, HVAC troubleshooting, facility repairs, preventative maintenance, and other building related needs. Larger repairs may be handled by outside contractors, so this position requires someone who can identify problems, determine the appropriate next step, and help prevent additional damage until specialized repairs can be completed.

The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically inclined, communicates well, and is willing to learn. Electrical experience is highly preferred, but candidates do not need to be experts in every trade. The client is open to experienced maintenance professionals as well as candidates coming out of trade school who have strong aptitude, a good attitude, and a willingness to grow.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES OF FACILITIES MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST

• Perform general facility maintenance and minor repairs at multiple branch locations.

• Troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other building maintenance issues.

• Identify maintenance concerns that require outside contractors and take appropriate steps to prevent additional damage.

• Assist with basic electrical troubleshooting, lighting repairs, and other general electrical needs.

• Respond to plumbing concerns, leaks, water issues, and other facility related problems.

• Assist with basic HVAC troubleshooting before outside contractors are contacted.

• Complete work orders and help address facility requests based on urgency, safety, and operational needs.

• Perform preventative maintenance and routine facility inspections.

• Assist with minor repairs, building upkeep, and general maintenance projects.

• Work alongside contractors and vendors when specialized repairs or services are required.

• Travel between branch locations using company provided vehicles.

• Participate in daily team briefings and safety meetings.

• Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors regarding work orders, repairs, delays, and changing priorities.

• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized manner.

• Assist with scheduled facility projects that may occasionally take place outside normal business hours.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS OF FACILITIES MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST

• Previous experience in facilities maintenance, general maintenance, construction, electrical work, mechanical work, or a related trade is preferred.

• Electrical experience or electrical aptitude is strongly preferred.

• Trade school graduates are encouraged to apply.

• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.

• Ability to use common hand tools and basic maintenance equipment.

• Ability to accurately use a tape measure or ruler.

• Willingness to learn electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other facility maintenance functions.

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

• Strong communication skills.

• Dependable attendance and punctuality.

• Ability to adapt quickly when priorities and work assignments change.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.

• Willingness to perform a variety of maintenance tasks rather than specialize in only one area.

• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF FACILITIES MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST

• Work in office, branch, maintenance, mechanical, and general facility environments.

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and working in different physical positions.

• Ability to use hand and power tools safely.

• Ability to perform hands on maintenance and repair work throughout the workday.

• Ability to travel regularly between branch locations.

• Work may occasionally involve responding to facility issues outside normal scheduled hours.

• Must consistently follow workplace safety procedures and facility requirements.

• Ability to work around electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other building systems.

SCREENING REQUIREMENTS FOR FACILITIES MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST

Candidates must be able to successfully complete required preemployment screening, which may include:

• Criminal background check.

• Motor Vehicle Record check.

• Credit screening as required by the financial institution.

• Additional employment related screening requirements.
