Quality Control Plant Technician Location: Frederick, Maryland Job Type: Full-time Seasonal (March - December) Pay Range: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour (Depending on experience and certifications) Description: Francis O. Day Co. Inc., a respected paving and excavation company that operates in Maryland and Virginia, seeks a skilled QC Plant Technician to ensure the quality and consistency of our asphalt products. The role involves routine inspections, equipment monitoring, and thorough documentation to maintain compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Job Duties Conduct regular quality control checks during the asphalt production process. Monitor and calibrate production equipment to ensure optimal performance. Maintain accurate records of test results and production data. Assist with troubleshooting production issues and recommend corrective actions. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations. Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to streamline operations. Report discrepancies and provide feedback to management for continuous improvement. Requirements Prior experience in quality control or plant operations within the asphalt or construction materials industry preferred. Strong attention to detail and analytical skills. Ability to interpret technical documents and quality control guidelines. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Capable of working independently and in a team environment. Flexibility to work either day or night shifts. Work Environment The QC Plant Technician will work in a dynamic, physically demanding environment at an asphalt production facility. Conditions include both indoor and outdoor exposure to varying weather elements such as heat, cold, rain, and wind. The role requires operating near heavy machinery, conveyor belts, and high-temperature materials, and strict adherence to safety protocols is mandatory. Technicians navigate uneven surfaces, climb ladders, and access elevated areas for sampling and testing. The work involves standing for extended periods, lifting materials or equipment, and operating testing instruments in lab and field settings. Dust, noise, and odors from asphalt materials are common, requiring personal protective equipment (PPE). Attention to detail, fast-paced conditions, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential. Occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, or overtime may be required to meet production demands.
