Mechanical Engineer

Shift Hours: Monday–Thursday in office (9 hours/day); Friday remote (4 hours) Job Description Job Summary Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer II - IV to join its team in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate should have 4 to 7+ years of relevant MEP experience and a strong background in mechanical system design, layout, calculations, and coordination. Candidates should be proficient in REVIT and AutoCAD MEP and have experience with projects involving Aviation, Federal, Healthcare, Commercial, and Mission Critical environments. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work on landmark projects while collaborating with experienced engineers and technical professionals in a dynamic and supportive environment. Required Skills 4 to 7+ years of relevant experience in the MEP field. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. Strong experience using Revit for mechanical system layout and spatial coordination. Proficiency in the latest versions of AutoCAD MEP and Revit . Experience with mechanical system design, calculations, layout, and coordination with engineering and architectural disciplines. Proficiency with design and calculation software, as well as Microsoft Excel and Word . Basic understanding of mechanical system selection and applicable building codes. Basic understanding of the practical application of LEED principles in building design. EIT certification is required; PE license is preferred. LEED accreditation is preferred. Experience with Mission Critical, Science + Technology, Healthcare, Aviation, Federal, or Commercial projects is a plus. Strong communication, organizational, coordination, and problem-solving skills. Ability to take ownership of the completeness, accuracy, and timely delivery of assigned work. Job Responsibilities Provide trade-specific mechanical system design, layouts, and calculations under the guidance of senior technical staff. Utilize CAD and REVIT for detailed mechanical system design and spatial coordination. Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural and other engineering disciplines, both internally and externally. Progress from basic design assignments to more complex and involved projects as part of a technical team. Participate in relevant trade organizations and assist with technical presentations. Manage CAD/BIM and other technical staff assigned to specific projects or tasks as directed by senior engineers or designers. Assist with employee reviews when requested. Estimate construction costs and evaluate construction feasibility using Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates. Assist in preparing engineering proposals under the direction of senior engineers or designers. Maintain responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of assigned engineering work.
