Job Description
The Quality Inspector performs detailed inspection of electronic assemblies and components to ensure they meet defined specifications and quality standards. This role uses specialized inspection tools and visual inspection devices to verify product conformity, records accurate inspection data in the required systems, and supports overall quality assurance within a modern electronics manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming products, components, and electronic assemblies by confirming specifications through visual and measurement tests.
- Perform inspections using defined inspection tools such as microscopes, micrometers, calipers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision instruments.
- Conduct detailed visual inspection of electronic assemblies, including surface mount technology (SMT) and thru‑hole components, to verify compliance with quality standards.
- Operate visual inspection devices applicable to the operation, such as X‑ray equipment, to detect defects or nonconformities.
- Capture, record, and register inspection data accurately using the required electronic systems and documentation tools.
- Follow established quality inspection procedures and work instructions based on IPC and related industry standards.
- Support quality assurance activities by identifying nonconforming products and communicating findings to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with electronic testing activities as needed to verify the performance and reliability of assemblies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by providing feedback on inspection processes and participating in cross‑training opportunities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while handling sensitive electronic components and inspection equipment.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience with quality inspection in a manufacturing or electronics environment.
- Proficiency in using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement tools for dimensional inspection.
- Ability to perform detailed visual inspection of electronic assemblies and components.
- Capability to operate visual inspection devices such as microscopes and X‑ray equipment.
- Knowledge of IPC standards, such as IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, and IPC-A-600, related to the acceptability and requirements of electronic assemblies.
- Understanding of basic electronic testing principles and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects and nonconformities accurately.
- Ability to follow written procedures, work instructions, and quality standards consistently.
- Basic computer skills to capture and register inspection data in the required systems.
- Effective communication skills to report inspection results and collaborate with team members.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in electronic assembly, particularly with SMT and thru‑hole operations, is preferred.
- Previous inspection or rework experience in electronics manufacturing is an asset.
- Experience in IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) is preferred.
- Experience in IPC-A-600 (Acceptability of Printed Boards) is preferred.
- Working knowledge of J-STD-001 (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies) is beneficial.
- Working knowledge of IPC-7711/7721 (Rework, Modification, and Repair of Electronic Assemblies) is beneficial.
- Working knowledge of IPC-WHMA-A-620 (Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies) is beneficial.
- Familiarity with electronic testing processes and equipment.
- Willingness to participate in on-site soldering tests and training to advance through soldering skill levels.
- Openness to cross-training in related production and quality functions.

Work Environment
The role is based in a 154,000 square foot, temperature-controlled electronics manufacturing facility with more than 550 people on site and 7 SMT production lines. The position follows a 2nd shift schedule, working Monday through Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Work is performed in a clean, well-lit production environment that supports detailed inspection work, using tools such as microscopes, micrometers, calipers, CMM equipment, X-ray inspection devices, and electronic testing equipment. The facility includes a cafeteria and is designed to support extended shift work comfortably. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and professionalism while handling electronic assemblies and sensitive inspection instruments.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.50 - $24.20/hr.
