Service Manager Commercial HVAC/R & Plumbing

The Service Manager provides leadership and operational oversight for the service department, ensuring high-quality commercial HVAC/R and plumbing service delivery. You will lead a team of skilled technicians, manage customer relationships, and drive the department's financial and operational success. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and strong management skills to maintain our standards of excellence and safety. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership: Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate HVAC/R and plumbing technicians. Conduct regular service meetings and "toolbox talks" to ensure safety and quality standards. Operational Oversight: Manage daily dispatching and scheduling to maximize manpower utilization and meet service demands. Monitor work orders, labor hours, and technician productivity. Customer Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for commercial clients, handling service follow-ups and resolving escalations to ensure complete customer satisfaction. Financial Management: Prepare quotations for recommended work and maintenance agreements. Manage departmental budgets, track job costs, and review invoices for accuracy. Technical Support: Provide troubleshooting assistance to field technicians on complex mechanical and plumbing systems. Conduct job site visits to inspect work quality. Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work complies with local codes, OSHA safety standards, and EPA regulations. Maintain technician licensing and certification records. Qualifications & Skills Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in HVAC/R or plumbing service, with at least 2-5 years in a supervisory or management role. Licensing: Valid Massachusetts licensure (e.g., Journeyman/Master Plumber or Refrigeration Technician) is highly desired. EPA Universal Refrigerant certification is required. Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of commercial HVAC systems, refrigeration, and plumbing codes. Proficiency with XOi technology or similar service management software is a plus. Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication and leadership abilities with a professional demeanor. Driver's License: A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
