Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant for a temp-to-hire position that may lead to permanent employment. Ideal candidates must have housing set up prior to application and must be located within 50 miles of South Beach.

Key Responsibilities

Perform both front and back office customer service duties.
Draw blood and conduct phlebotomy tasks such as venipuncture and fingerstick on all patients as ordered.
Identify patients using two unique identifiers and verify test orders prior to specimen collection.
Prepare collection sites using aseptic technique and select appropriate collection equipment.
Label specimens accurately at the point of collection.
Process, centrifuge, and prepare specimens for transport or analysis according to laboratory protocols.
Monitor patients for adverse reactions and provide appropriate first aid or escalate as needed.
Maintain infection control and safety standards during all procedures.
Collect and process non-blood specimens (e.g., urine) as required.

Qualifications

Must have a valid Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant is required; first-time travelers are welcome to apply.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
Experience working with providers is essential.
Familiarity with eClinicalWorks (ECW) is preferred, but training will be provided.

Work Schedule

Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch)
Friday: 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Extended work hours may be required bi-monthly on a rotating schedule: Wednesday or Thursday 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM; Saturday 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM (if scheduled to work on Saturday, the candidate will not work the preceding Friday).

Additional Information

Candidates must be willing to transition to permanent employment after the contract duration.
Expect to work on some holidays as part of the position requirements.
