Shift Details Shift: Night Work Days: Monday–Friday Shift Start Time: Variable Shift End Time: Variable Worker Sub-Type: Regular Job Description One day shift 7 a.m.–7 p.m. and two night shifts 7 p.m.–7 a.m. (.9 FTE, holiday required, no call). Experience No minimum experience required Preferred Qualifications One year of experience as a surgical technician Experience in a pediatric operating room Education High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from a recognized surgical technologist program or five (5) years of equivalent experience Certification Summary Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Job Responsibilities Assist in the ongoing process of healthcare delivery to patients and parents, incorporating age‑related and developmental‑specific requirements. Provide technical skills assisting the surgeon or staff and operating surgical equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Maintain knowledge of current equipment and supplies. Utilize effective communication skills in providing care to patients and families. Assist in collaborative practice with the healthcare team. Demonstrate cost effectiveness and efficiency regarding time management and supply use. Participate in orientation of students, staff members, and other health professionals. Perform ongoing department‑specific tasks as assigned. Manage own professional development by rotating through other specialties to maintain competence. Demonstrate competencies that incorporate age‑specific guidelines, including N = Neonate (less than 30 days), I = Infant (30 days to 1 year), EC = Early Childhood (1–5 years), LC = Late Childhood (5–13 years), A = Adolescent (13–17 years), AD = Adult, and ALL = all ages. Achieve 75% attendance at staff meetings if applicable. Support Joint Commission readiness. System Responsibilities Safety: Practice proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for reporting employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and within the occurrence notification system. Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identify potential risk areas within area of responsibility and support problem resolution processes. Maintain records of compliance activities and report them to the Compliance Office.
