Desktop Support Specialist

The Opportunity The Desktop Support Specialist is a critical member of the Allegro IT team, responsible for providing day‑to‑day high‑quality technical assistance and support to our on‑site and remote global workforce. This role ensures that employees have the functional and reliable technology they need to drive innovation. Responsibilities Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 on‑site support for Windows laptops and desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues. Execute hardware setup and software provisioning for new hires, ensuring a seamless Day1 experience. Manage the deployment, tracking, and decommissioning of IT assets. Assist with installation and troubleshooting of core enterprise applications, including Microsoft Office365, Teams, and specialized engineering tools. Use the IT Ticketing system (Jira Service Desk) to document, track, and resolve employee requests in a timely manner, adhering to established SLAs. Escalate complex issues in collaboration with the Network and Systems Engineering teams and participate in site‑wide infrastructure upgrades or deployments. Maintain and update the internal IT knowledge base to empower employees with self‑service solutions. Lift/move heavy objects (desktops, printers, etc.) as required. Communicate with the global IT team, end‑users, and the executive team in a transparent manner. Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). 2–5 years of experience in a technical support or help desk role within a corporate environment. Good customer‑service skills with the ability to communicate highly technical information to both technical and non‑technical personnel. Deep knowledge of Windows10/11 and Microsoft365 suite. Experience with Active Directory, AzureAD, and endpoint management tools (e.g., Intune, SCCM). PowerShell or other scripting language experience, or willingness to learn. Hardware knowledge down to the component level, including installation of new hardware. Familiarity with remote support tools and VPN troubleshooting. Basic networking configuration and troubleshooting knowledge. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. One Allegro mindset—collaborative, patient, and dedicated to solving problems with a sense of urgency. Preferred Qualifications CompTIAA+, Network+, or Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator certifications.
