Software Development Engineer, AWS DMS

Salary: $143,400 - 143,400 per year Requirements:

• 3+ years of professional software development experience outside internships
• 2+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling
• 1+ year of experience as a software development engineer or in a related occupation
• 1+ year of experience designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multithreaded, embedded, or distributed software applications, tools, systems, or services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
• 1+ year of object-oriented design experience
• Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming in at least one software language
• Preferred: 3+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Preferred: Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

• Design, implement, and release features and fixes across the DMS control plane, including replication-instance provisioning and lifecycle management, replication-task orchestration, host management, and customer- and internal-facing APIs
• Own deployment and release systems for a large global fleet, including deployment pipelines, operating-system patching, and safe rollout mechanisms
• Improve security and compliance to protect customer data
• Promote operational excellence by creating alarms, monitors, automated safeguards, and tools that reduce recovery time
• Contribute to code reviews, design discussions, and release management
• Participate in an on-call rotation, investigate production incidents, and drive them through resolution
• Design automation for provisioning, patching, and safely deploying changes across regions
• Investigate recurring operational issues, identify root causes, and implement durable fixes
• Use and help improve AI-powered engineering tools for defect detection, code review, and incident resolution
