Elmet Technologies is looking for a 1st Shift Production Supervisor to join our manufacturing team in Lewiston, Maine.

In this role, you'll lead production employees, coordinate daily manufacturing activities, maintain quality and safety standards, and help ensure production goals are met. You'll work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to keep production moving, solve problems, and identify opportunities to improve performance.

What You'll Do

As a Production Supervisor, you'll be responsible for the people, processes, equipment, safety, quality, and daily performance of your assigned production area. Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead, direct, and support production employees to meet daily manufacturing goals
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management
• Establish clear expectations and hold employees accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and performance
• Monitor production activity and adjust priorities to meet schedules and customer requirements
• Coordinate production schedules, staffing, equipment availability, and material requirements
• Work with Supply Chain and Production Planning to establish capacity based on available equipment, employees, and raw materials
• Identify production delays, communicate issues promptly, and coordinate solutions with Maintenance, Planning, and Operations leadership
• Monitor daily production results and communicate accomplishments, challenges, and improvement opportunities
• Ensure employees consistently follow established operating procedures, company policies, and manufacturing standards
• Develop a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and process variables to help troubleshoot production problems
• Train and develop operators in safety, manufacturing processes, technical skills, and quality requirements
• Maintain product quality through consistent application of AS9100 procedures and established quality standards
• Conduct safety and housekeeping inspections and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken
• Support the development and improvement of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures
• Work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety, Supply Chain, Quality, and Human Resources
• Make timely operational decisions to resolve routine production challenges and maintain workflow
• Identify and implement improvements to manufacturing processes, equipment utilization, productivity, and quality
• Support budget preparation, cost control, and responsible use of manufacturing resources
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuous improvement activities
• Help build a positive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment

Requirements

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a manufacturing leader who understands that strong production performance comes from clear expectations, effective communication, and employees who have the training and support to succeed. You'll need:

• 3–5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing methodologies, concepts, and practices
• Experience supervising production employees and managing daily manufacturing operations
• Ability to plan and organize production activities while balancing competing priorities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience coaching, developing, and managing employee performance
• Ability to make sound decisions and resolve production problems independently
• Strong understanding of manufacturing safety, quality, and operating procedures
• Ability to work collaboratively with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and other departments
• Results-oriented approach with a commitment to continuous improvement
• Ability to adapt schedules and priorities to changing production requirements

A bachelor's degree in a related discipline is preferred, although an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.

A Hands-On Manufacturing Leadership Role

This isn't a position where you'll spend your entire day in an office. You'll spend significant time on the manufacturing floor, working directly with employees, equipment, and production processes. Your day may include reviewing production schedules, helping troubleshoot equipment problems, coaching an employee, coordinating with Maintenance, addressing a quality concern, or identifying an opportunity to improve how work gets done. You'll need to be comfortable moving between people leadership, technical problem-solving, production planning, and operational decision-making.

The role involves working in both office and manufacturing environments. Production areas may include elevated temperatures, noise, and other industrial conditions. The position may require walking, standing, moving through manufacturing areas, and occasionally carrying up to 35 pounds, with reasonable accommodations available for qualified individuals. Although this is a 1st shift position, occasional schedule flexibility or weekend availability may be needed to support production requirements.
