Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift

This is a 13-week contract position.

Night shift, 3x12 hour schedule.

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport as medically prescribed within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, as well as explaining the purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients, and providing necessary education upon discharge.

• Conduct physician-prescribed respiratory treatments using various ventilatory and oxygen devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by different methods.
• Monitor patients using oximetry and capnography, and perform routine reviews of chest x-rays.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist with respiratory care procedures.
• Perform tracheostomy care, including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes.
• Perform arterial puncture and determine efficiency of ventilation while documenting and reporting test results.
• Adhere to policies regarding laboratory testing, equipment use, documentation, and quality control.
• Execute cardiopulmonary resuscitation following BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Manage mechanical ventilation equipment, maintaining and monitoring set-up and performance.
• Maintain accurate records of treatments and patient responses, ensuring effective communication with the healthcare team.

Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist as required by the state.
