Job Description

A school district in Federal Heights, Colorado is seeking a qualified English Language Arts Teacher for a full‑time, school‑based contract . This position serves middle school and/or high school students and focuses on developing literacy, writing, critical thinking, and communication skills. Candidates who are passionate about student achievement, engaging instruction, and fostering a love of reading and writing are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide engaging English Language Arts instruction aligned with Colorado academic standards
• Develop and deliver lessons in reading comprehension, literature, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and communication
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students
• Assess student progress and use data to inform instructional decisions
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, special education staff, and families
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, and documentation
• Participate in parent conferences, staff meetings, and professional development activities
• Support students in developing critical thinking, analytical, and writing skills

Qualifications

• Active Colorado English Language Arts teaching license required
• Appropriate secondary English Language Arts endorsement preferred based on assignment
• Ability to pass background checks, fingerprinting, and district clearances
• Licensing and credentialing support may be available for eligible candidates

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Education, or a related field

Experience

• Previous teaching experience preferred
• Experience teaching English Language Arts at the middle or high school level preferred
• New graduates with appropriate credentials are encouraged to apply

• Strong classroom management and instructional skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Knowledge of literacy development and evidence‑based instructional strategies
• Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Strong organizational and documentation abilities
• Commitment to supporting diverse student populations

Work Hours

• Monday–Friday
• 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• Approximately 37–40 hours per week
