Cashier/AM shift lead

We are looking to fill the position of Cashier/ AM shift lead for an intimate California sandwich shop and bistro in Echo Park.

Henrietta is 30+ seat California take on the deli and market by day, bistro by night of Europe and Italy. We are small, seasonal corner restaurant with a focus on serving our neighborhood and beyond from morning to night.
We are looking for someone  who shares our values of quality and care above all else. 

Cashiers are expected to open the restaurant as well as run all aspects of AM service, from taking orders, to expediting, to ensuring guest satisfaction throughout the meal. While AM service is is counter service, we still strive for the highest service ideals in a casual environment. 

We also have a curated market and bottle shop which cashier/ shift leads are responsible for learning about and selling. 

We are looking for a cashier who can either take on the role of shift lead immediately or grow into it over time. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to:

• Open restaurant
• Ring up all guests
• perform AM closing procedure including closing lunch, setting up for dinner and reconciling all payments
• Maintain complete knowledge of restaurant menu, specials, and beverage preparation
• Sell and serve food and alcoholic beverages responsibly
• Accurately enter and process customer orders in the POS system
• Handle payments, process different payment methods, and provide change when necessary
• Interact with guests in a friendly, professional, and timely manner, ensuring satisfaction and exceeding expectations
• Perform side-work duties and maintain cleanliness and smooth operation of the restaurant
• Clear, reset, and prepare tables for new guests
• Seat guests when needed
• Check guest identification for alcohol service; politely refuse service when required by law
• Monitor guests’ alcohol consumption, keep track of drinks served, and intervene as necessary (including offering transportation or requesting manager assistance)
• Arrive on time in a neat, clean uniform with proper grooming and personal hygiene
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Ability to pass the Responsible Service of Alcohol Test with a score of 90% or higher
• Valid state alcohol server license and food handler’s card required
• Basic math skills (ability to make change)
• Basic reading, writing, and computer skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of workplace safety procedures
• Ability to suggestively sell food and beverage items

• Standing for the entire shift

• Occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 75 pounds
• Regular communication with team members and ability to read order tickets

Compensation

• $17.87-$22.00 DOE + Tips
