Police Officer (Full-time & Part-Time Openings)

The Aledo Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer (full and part-time openings). Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled. Qualified candidates will be required to successfully complete a physical agility test, comprehensive written test, psychological screening, and a medical examination.


Applicants who have successfully completed the Basic Police Academy and are certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board to work as a Law Enforcement Officer in the State of Illinois will be given preference. A lateral hire process is available for fully trained, experienced officers and eligible to be paid comparable with their full years of certified law enforcement experience.


The regular starting base pay for a new full-time police officer would start at $60,850.00. 12-hour Shifts with every other Friday, Saturday and Sunday off. Full Uniforms, ballistic vest and duty weapon are supplied. A sign-on bonus for all full-time officers who join this year will receive a $7,500 sign-on bonus, paid out over three years. Officers hired into full-time employment also receive employer sponsored insurance plans: (Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO Insurance Plan, Express Scripts Prescription Drug Coverage, Employer paid Basic Life and AD&D coverage amount of $50,000, Delta Dental, VSP Vision. Additional benefit options include: Aflac Supplemental Insurance, Additional Voluntary Life Insurance, Healthcare Flexible Spending Accounts, 457 Deferred Compensation), including paid vacation, holidays, personal days, individual and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (pension). Part-time officers are compensated at the rate of $28.00 per hour.
