Qualifications:
- Associates degree in Human Services, or related field
- Ability and interest to work with children, families, other employees, and the public
- Proficient use of technology
- Meets Head Start performance standards for Health Screening
- Willingness to particiapte in professional growth and earn credentials or licenses
- Valid driver's license,transportation and vehicle insurance
* Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropiate. Performance Responsibilities:
- Learns and follows Charlotte County Public Schools Head Start policies and procedures as related to the Head Start/EarlyHead Start Performance Standards.
- Develops the Family Partnership Agreement with families.
- Documents information obtained through family contacts, disabilities service, and health screenings.
- Maintains up-to-date child master files on all assigned children.
- Assists with workshops and Parent Committee meetings.
- Assists the Head Start Director in implementing all parent activities.
- Assists families with verbal and written communication with community service providers, businesses or employers.
- Takes direction from Family and Health Services Coordinators.
- Provides family support services to assigned families as needed and makes appropriate referrals and follow-up.
- Makes home visits to families.
- Practices and models appropriate child behavior management techniques.
- Establishes partnerships with community agencies and utilizes community resources.
- Develops collaborative partnerships with parents to establish mutual trust and to identify family goals, strengths and necessary services or support.
- Observes children in classrooms and provides additional classroom support as appropriate, including class coverage.
- Works collaboratively with teachers and parents to maintain consistent attendance.
- Works collaboratively to plan and implement parent involvement programs for Pre-K families.
- Meets with Head Start instructors periodically and documents with Family Advocate Teacher (FAT) Reports.
- Assists with identifying, selecting, recruiting, and enrolling eligible children in the Early Childhood Programs.
- Assists with sensory, health, and dental screenings.
- Assists with transportation for families as needed for health and human services medical appointments and other necessities related to the program.
- Establishes/maintains positive, professional relationships with parents, always treating them with respect and privacy.
- Maintains confidentiality at all times, within and outside of the program.
- Flexes schedule to meet the needs of parents and program.
- Performs other job-related functions as may be assigned.
