Cashier - Gumby’s/Geno’s (New Martinsville Area)

POSITION SUMMARY

The cashier position is responsible for providing outstanding customer service, operating the point of sale (POS) register and other related equipment/devices, suggestive selling, displaying outstanding product knowledge, replenishing merchandise on shelves and coolers and attending to various housekeeping matters. The position is required to tend to the needs of the LVL gamers/patrons and overall Form W-2G compliance. The position is also responsible for adherence to loss prevention policies and all other company policy/store standards.

TYPICAL SCHEDULE AND WORK LOCATION

The position requires the Cashier to be able to work various shifts to meet the staffing needs of the assigned store(s). Schedules may be adjusted to accommodate employee work restrictions. Depending on the Store’s and/or Company’s staffing needs, employees may be required to work at other location(s) in the immediate area of the assigned store. The hours scheduled to work is a function of the employee’s status with the Company and the needs of the store and Company. Full-time status requires the employee to work 35 hours per week. Part‑time status requires the employee to work less than 35 hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, and grammar.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior work experience in a retail setting utilizing a point of sale system. Experience with Microsoft Office software products, electronic mail software and internet browser software. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. TRAVEL: This position does not require any overnight travel. Depending on the needs of the Company, some travel to other Gumby’s or Geno’s stores in the immediate area of the assigned store may be necessary. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Functions) Provide each customer outstanding service by greeting, acknowledging, and maintaining standards with solid merchandise product knowledge. Complete all POS transactions, including returns, voids, and proper control of cash, checks, coupons and credit/debit receipts. Conduct timely safe drops, verify acceptance of non-counterfeit money, credit card/debit cards, and checks while running the POS register per policies. Validate LVL tickets, assist patrons using the cash kiosk, wait/serve LVL patrons, clean LVL machines, and stock/fill self‑serve coolers. Complete IRS Form W‑2G per company guidelines. Finish end‑of‑shift and/or end‑of‑day reporting and paperwork, balancing the cash drawer, coupons, checks, and preparing cash/coin for deposit. Replenish merchandise on shelves/coolers, participate in receiving, housekeeping, general maintenance, and other shift duties as assigned. Report maintenance issues, incident reports, equipment issues, ATM, LVL machines, Smart Safes, and Cash Kiosk problems to Lead or Store Manager, and submit appropriate forms. Assist LVL and/or IT technicians in troubleshooting error codes and other maintenance issues in LVL machines, credit card equipment, check acceptance equipment, ATMs and Cash Kiosks. Communicate cash levels in ATMs and Cash Kiosks when requested. Wear the appropriate Company uniform and present a professional appearance. Punch in and punch out of the time clock per company guidelines. Adhere to all Company policies, procedures and practices.

PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

The position requires regular standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, speaking, hearing, tasting, smelling, and driving. The employee must perform light‑to‑moderate physical activity, carrying / lifting / moving items such as stocking shelves and coolers, lifting up to 30‑50 pounds regularly. Exposure to smoke, dust, fumes, odors, moderate noise from LVL machines, customers, and vehicles is expected.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

The position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, calculators, phones, photocopiers, fax machines, money counters/sorters, point‑of‑sale register, lottery terminals, credit/debit card equipment, check acceptance equipment, electronic time card, security keypad, filing cabinets, broom, vacuum sweeper, mop, bucket, snow shovel, and cleaning materials.
