Salary will be determined in accordance with current pay procedures. Minimum Qualifications : Must be at least 18 years of age. Be a citizen of the United States. Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Must have completed basic recruit training for correctional officers and have at least one year of experience as a certified officer with the State of Florida. Must not have received a suspension within the past 12 months. Must not have received an involuntary demotion within the past 24 months. Must not have received less than a 3.00 rating on a performance evaluation within the past 3 fiscal years. Specific Duties and Responsibilities : This position is located at Zephyrhills Correctional Institution. The incumbent is responsible for supervisory duties, regulatory compliance with Florida Administrative Code, inmate management, crisis intervention, facility security, emergency response, and administrative reporting. Specific duties include: Supervising inmates commensurate with risk levels, managing housing areas, enforcing rules and sanitation standards. Transporting inmates using approved restraints, conducting accurate head counts, maintaining custody at appointments outside and inside the secured perimeter, issuing receipts for personal property inventories. Performing crisis intervention, including subduing or restraining violent or uncooperative inmates, defending persons, preventing escapes, and using approved force, restraints, or other methods. Required to wear body armor and use weapons. Maintaining facility security through searches, visual inspection of inmates, checking mail/packages for contraband, observing inmate behavior, and conducting inspections and surveillance of property, vehicles, and facilities. Providing emergency assistance during emergencies, disasters, and accidents, including CPR, first aid, apprehending escaped inmates, implementing evacuation procedures, and securing inmates or areas as needed. Directing correctional officers in supervising inmates, checking mail, supervising work details, maintaining master inmate location counts, and operating the Control Room and Main Gate. Ensuring accurate completion and signing of transportation permits, and preparing special, progress, minor work, disciplinary, or incident reports. Attending mandatory and other required training. Performing other related duties as required.
