Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) for a Medical Surgical Unit travel assignment in Urbana, Illinois. The ideal candidate will have strong post-operative nursing experience and be comfortable caring for patients with complex surgical needs in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to post-operative surgical patients.
• Perform patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
• Monitor and manage patients with tracheostomies, wound vacs, drains, and ostomies.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments in accordance with physician orders.
• Assess patient responses to treatment and communicate changes in condition promptly.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, discharge instructions, and post-operative care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation utilizing Epic EMR.
• Adhere to hospital policies, patient safety standards, and evidence-based nursing practices.

Requirements

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) License at time of submission.
• Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Minimum one (1) year of recent Medical Surgical nursing experience.
• Previous Trauma Level I facility experience required.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
