Position Description Merrimack College is a selective, private college in a beautiful, residential setting—just minutes from Boston, Massachusetts. The School of Arts & Sciences invites applications for a full‑time, non‑tenure‑track, open‑ended term, open‑rank Instructional Professor in Biology within the Department of Natural Sciences. The role supports the college’s mission of fostering academic excellence and community engagement. Primary Responsibilities Develop and update undergraduate Biology courses. Teach a combination of lectures and labs for the Biology program and related science programs (Health Sciences, Nursing, etc.). Develop, teach, and implement laboratory courses with a course‑based research experience (CURE) component. Coordinate undergraduate introductory biology labs. Advise and mentor undergraduate students and host consistent office hours throughout the academic year. Attend department and faculty meetings. Other duties as assigned by the Academic Dean and/or Department Chair. Qualifications Master’s degree in biological sciences or a related field (Ph.D. preferred). Experience teaching lectures and laboratories at the collegiate level. Strong interest in undergraduate and graduate teaching with a commitment to accessible and experiential pedagogy. Work Location This is an on‑campus position, essential to provide a fully on‑campus, residential college experience for students and the community. Compensation The expected 9‑month base salary range (paid over 12 months) is $78,000–$90,000 for the Assistant Instructional Professor and $90,000–$110,000 for the Associate Instructional Professor. Actual pay will be determined based on qualifications, experience, scope of responsibilities, internal equity, and market considerations.
