Physical Therapist

Physical TherapistPlan and administer a prescribed physical therapy treatment program for patients to restore function, relieve pain and prevent disability following illness, disease or injury. Responsibilities include reviewing physician referrals and patient medical records to determine physical therapy treatment required, planning and preparing written treatment programs, conferring with physicians and other health practitioners, recording patient treatment and progress, supervising physical therapy assistants and aides, administering manual therapeutic exercises, performing tests and measurements, administering treatments involving application of physical agents, instructing and assisting patients in non-manual exercises, consulting with physicians in the event of adverse reactions, maintaining documentation consistent with third party reimbursement, conducting on the job training for new employees, adapting training materials, assisting in the recruitment of staff, attending department meetings, participating in developing and updating department policies and procedures, participating in department budget planning, developing specifications for commonly used items, maintaining confidentiality, utilizing supplies and equipment properly, thinking and acting calmly and logically to meet unusual occurrences, following established infection control precautions, and performing miscellaneous work assignments as required.Job Requirements include being a credentialed graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program and licensed in the state where practicing, prior experience in physical therapy preferred, ability to lift 50 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds, travel within a local area as needed for patient treatment, ability to work inside with exposure to some disagreeable conditions, effective communication with residents, therapy staff, and facility staff, capability of executing all terms and conditions set forth in the Employee Handbook, including working in a safety conscious manner, complying with local, state and federal regulations, adhering to company policies and procedures, maintaining a drug free workplace, interacting tactfully and diplomatically with residents, families, visitors and co-workers, maintaining a dependable attendance record, and adhering to standards of cleanliness, grooming, hygiene and dress code.
