Utilization Review Case Manager

Location: Juneau, Alaska

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.

Job Description: The Utilization Review Case Manager will manage patient progression of care, promote evidence-based protocols, ensure the appropriateness of interventions, and expedite care delivery for admitted patients. This role involves coordination and collaboration with healthcare providers to ensure timely and appropriate patient discharges while adhering to quality standards and regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Review patient records and evaluate patient progress.
• Conduct continuing review of hospitalization to monitor necessity and quality of care.
• Collaborate with leadership and clinical teams to ensure appropriate healthcare services.
• Develop personalized treatment plans for new hospital admissions based on patient needs.
• Maintain documentation to support Utilization Management functions and communicate with payers.
• Facilitate educational programs regarding regulations affecting Utilization Management.
• Perform tumor registry functions as needed.
• Respond to complaints in accordance with Utilization Management review guidelines.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• Active nursing license in Alaska required.
• 8 years of clinical care or nursing experience, with at least 3 years in chart review or risk management.
• Case Management certification by a recognized certifying organization preferred.
• Proficient in medical terminology, relevant regulations, and coding practices.
