Medical Surgical Unit - Travel Registered Nurse

Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 24 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 9 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 3 months of Cerner experience is preferred.

• 9 months of acute care experience within the last 12 months.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a North Carolina license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >50 miles from facility to be submitted.

• No current placement allowed at Program: HealthTrust Program - HCA - North Carolina Division.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: - Telemetry competency. - Must be able to manage 6-7 patients depending on the shift. - Urology and bowel experience.

Unit Details: - General surgery unit with urology and bowel patient populations. - Patient ratios: 1:6 on day shift, 1:7 on night shift. - Uses telemetry, PCA, wound vacs, Baxter IV pumps, TPN, tube feeds, and urinary catheters. - Typical procedures and care include PEG tubes, dobhoffs, NG tubes, colostomies and urostomies, biliary/JP/nephrostomy drains, continuous bladder irrigation, heparin drips, IV antibiotics, cholecystectomies, appendectomies, podiatry, bowel resections, plastics, urology surgeries and nephrectomies, hysterectomies, mastectomies, oral/maxillary procedures, thyroidectomies, and hernia repairs.

Shift & Scheduling: - 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule.

Floating Requirements: - Floats to other med-surg areas.

All time off requests must be submitted at application. Scheduling requests must be worked out with the manager directly upon starting the assignment. Any offers for this job will require a clear “Yes” or “No” response from the nurse within 24hrs or the offer must be declined.
