This includes specialized neonatal care i.e. delivery room resuscitation, stabilization, initiation of infant treatment and necessary procedures, prescribing diagnostic testing, medications and therapies, and providing family support.NNP's are in a clinical leadership position in the NICU. Additional responsibilities include select nursing and medical staff education; consultation; advocacy for patients, families and nursing staff; involvement in professional development and research; participation and leadership in unit committees and councils; improvement of unit-specific neonatal outcomes.Essential FunctionsClinical JudgmentObtains and summarizes a complete health history, performs a comprehensive physical examination, synthesizes and interprets multiple sources of data, makes accurate clinical diagnoses, and formulates an individual treatment plan with expected outcomes.
