Position Summary

As a PFA Lead Teacher , you will be responsible for planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum, fostering a positive classroom environment anchored by our core values of Trust, Respect, Consistency, and Communication. You will support each child's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development, while building collaborative partnerships with families and staff. This role requires strong, dependable leadership and a passionate commitment to early childhood education.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (or qualifying degree meeting Illinois DCFS Lead Teacher requirements)
• Preschool For All Qualified
• Experience working in a licensed childcare center, preschool, or early learning environment
• Strong classroom management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers
• Must pass all required background checks and meet Illinois DCFS requirements

Preferred

• CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Previous Lead Teacher experience

Responsibilities

• Curriculum Planning: Develop and implement engaging daily lesson plans that reflect our commitment to consistency, ensuring activities are developmentally appropriate and demonstrate deep respect for each child’s unique learning journey.
• Classroom Environment: Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that cultivates trust among students, ensuring every child feels valued, secure, and ready to learn.
• Assessment & Documentation: Observe and assess children's progress while maintaining accurate, transparent documentation, fostering trust with families through detailed, honest insights.
• Parent Partnerships: Build strong relationships through proactive and regular communication with parents regarding their child's development, ensuring a collaborative approach rooted in mutual respect.
• Regulatory Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to all Illinois DCFS licensing standards, ensuring consistency in safety and quality to uphold the trust families place in us.
• Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor classroom assistants and support staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive culture through clear, open communication and professional respect.
• Classroom Organization: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment, treating the space with respect as a fundamental part of the learning experience and ensuring a consistent standard of quality.
