Job Summary and Qualifications

Duties Include But Are Not Limited To:

• Collects appropriate blood specimens by venipuncture or capillary puncture using proper technique. Receives other specimens.
• Collects timed blood specimens. Keeps blood collection workload on track to avoid delays. Prioritizes specimen collections appropriately.
• Delivers blood specimens to work sections timely. Centrifuges specimens as appropriate.
• Enters outpatient orders into the LIS system and collects specimens.
• Retrieve specimens from drop box and receive them, answer phone, review of outpatient requisitions, faxing reports, filing, stocking.
• Perform EKG's on outpatients and submit printouts to the Respiratory department.

Position Qualifications:

• Type Required Preferred
• Required Degree: High school or equivalent
• Phlebotomy or hospital experience preferred
• Certification/Registry: Phlebotomy preferred
• BLS from an approved agency required within 90 days of hire
