Ultrasound Technician

The Ultrasound Technician is responsible for providing timely diagnostic ultrasound services to both inpatient and outpatient settings under the direction of a Radiologist and according to departmental protocols. The technician will perform various sonograms, including abdominal, pelvic (gynecological & obstetrical), and transvaginal, along with proficient scanning of small parts such as the thyroid, breast, and scrotum. Additionally, the technician will assist in ultrasound-guided biopsies, drainage, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and aspirations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ultrasound examinations on patients as per the established protocols.
• Perform abdominal, pelvic, and small parts sonograms.
• Assist in procedures such as ultrasound-guided biopsies and aspirations.
• Maintain equipment and ensure the safety and comfort of patients during procedures.
• Collaborate with the Radiology team to ensure quality diagnostic services.

Schedule

This position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must be a graduate of an accredited AMA school.
• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and/or a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS).
• Must have a state license as a general radiographer.
• BLS certification is required and must be through the American Heart Association.
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience as an Ultrasound Technician with a strong knowledge of general procedures and vascular training; echo experience is a plus.
• Ability to cover both assigned campuses as needed.
